RICKY ALSO

RICKY ALSO is an artist and designer based on the south coast of the UK.

With a background in graffiti and graphic design he draws on these influences and many years of experience to create structured typographic artworks exploring depth, movement and rhythm through layers of hand-drawn, manipulated type. Integrating words or messages from his internal dialogue that can relate to the process of creating the piece, highlighting aspects of being ‘human’ or on larger scale public murals featuring local stories or unsung heroes that help to build a connection to the murals location, local history and community.

Ricky is very focused on traditional technical hand-drawing techniques to create even his large scale pieces. The processes and craftmanship to create them is integral to his style as well as the level of finish he is able to achieve by working freehand.

He applies his art to a wide range of projects nationally, and through his creative practice, Paintshop (paintshopstudio.com) helping brands and communities transform spaces through supersized art & design. He has also curated and helped produce both MultiStories - Street Art Car Park in Southampton, The Upside - Outdoor Gallery in Bournemouth as well as previously running his own Paintshop Studio & Gallery in Poole.
