Are you a fan of the flourish, a sucker for sleight of hand or dazzled by the discovery of the disappeared?
Then you NEED the Midweek Magic Club in your life. Seedhead Arts and the Black Box have teamed up to bring you an evening of close up and performance magic at the Midweek Magic Club. Now in our fourth year, each show involves a grand total of FOUR local magicians trying out new and innovative material in the intimate surrounds of the Black Box cafe, and in between sets the performers will show off their latest close up skills around the tables of the venue.
The Midweek Magic Club allows you to see established Belfast favourites like Caolan McBride alongside ambitious newcomers, moving the art of magic on from traditional top hats and velvet curtains and into the 21st Century. Expect an intimate, interactive and fun-filled night.
Doors 7.30pm. Admission £4. If you want to pre-book tickets you can do so at here.
Future dates, (all also on sale via the Black Box website) are as follows
11 May – 8 June

Since November 2012 Seedhead Arts has been running and developing Real Sketchy, a open live sketching event taking place in a bar environment. Over the years it’s developed from something that was largely populated by artists to being somewhere that anyone can have a wee sketch and a laugh over a few pints.
Although inspired by the spirit of Street Art, we’re really interested in the cross-pollenisation of different disciplines like comic, illustration, design, etc and how this plays out in a live environment, in a crowd of people with a wide range of skills and backgrounds. Plus beer. And music.
Thanks to sponsorship from Ink Monkey in North Street we are now able to provide pens, pencils and paper for everyone.
Real Sketchy runs from 9-11pm on the same night as Late Night Art, the first Thursday of the month (except for Jan, Jul & Aug). So the next ones are on
The venue’s a secret. The line-up is a secret. Our next pot luck of performance art is on 19th March 2016 at 8pm.
Cabaret is about variety, about surprise, about pushing the boundaries of entertainment and taste. If this sounds like something you’d like to try on a Saturday night then why not give yourself over to chance. Put your trust in Seedhead Arts and Infinite Jest and let them take you to a pop up venue for a melting pot of genre, skill and audience experience like you’ve never had before.
We’ve only 35 tickets for an intimate performance with four of Belfast’s finest performers. Admission is by ticket only and ticket holders will be emailed the venue (this time somewhere in the East Belfast) on the morning of the event.
NB. This is a pop-up grass roots cabaret. Don’t be expecting dudes in Top Hats, velvet curtains or can can dancers, just expect four awesome performers somewhere you wouldn’t expect. Oh and it’s BYO.
‘Cabaret is a form of entertainment featuring music, song, dance, recitation or drama. The audience, often dining or drinking, does not typically dance but usually sits at tables. Performances are usually introduced by a master of ceremonies or MC. The entertainment, as done by an ensemble of actors and according to its European origins, is often (but not always) oriented towards adult audiences and of a clearly underground nature.
